I have
5 hens, all laying, 2 RIR's, one polish banty/standard mix,
2 lakenvelders, one is a mix I think.
I check
the nest often sometimes 4-5 times just to make sure I didn't
leave one out in the cold to freeze.
Yesterday
morning at 7 there were no eggs, through the day they gave
me all five. Nice day, this morning I went out early and
there was one, RIR egg. I didn't bother till now 3:00 since
it is nice out but when I went there I found 5 eggs!
My first
grade math tells me :) that is 11 eggs from 5 chickens in
2 days.
Somebody
is giving up more than their share. Is it possible that
a RIR gave me 2 in one day?
There
is absolutely no chance I forgot to count one from the other
day the next box was made to protrude beyond the coop and
I just put my hand in a grab.
I have
never gotten 5 two days in a row, only twice in one week.
They are all normal size.
Any thoughts
on this, how is it possible for them to lay 2 in one day,
and what am I doing RIGHT?
Thanks
Rosemarie Wood
