When you increase the distractions it might seem almost like starting from the beginning again, but it is worth persevering.

There is no easy answer, but a lot of dog training comes down to common sense, and building up the level of distractions for the dog to ignore (and a chicken running around can be quite a big distraction for them!).

If you need help with any aspect of training your dog then I would recommend that you look at this:
http://www.self-sufficient-life.com/1/Dogs

The book itself is a complete and detailed manual on training your dog, and how to prevent and handle behavioral problems - but the really useful part is the personalized consultation they give as one of the bonuses. You may already have a burning question, but if not have a good think about what you really need a good solution to. Try to be as specific as possible as they probably don't usually see many questions that involve chickens ;-)
