Subscriber Coops
Thanks to Margie Burr for these
photos and description of the newly finished 'portable' chicken
coop - designed and built by her husband.
"I've been waiting for
my husband to send you the pictures of our 'portable' chicken
coop because he wanted to explain all that he did. But I'm beginning
to think that it's never going to be sent (he has so many creations
in his head that he doesn't think of sending pictures). So I've
decided to send them to you and do my best in explaining each
one myself. I hope you enjoy. His work is always very inspiring
to me."

The first picture is the full
view of the coop (new home to 24 Rhode Island Red females). It's
screened in all around and has an electric wire going around about
1½ feet from the bottom to keep coyotes and other predators
away. The electric wire is run by the battery on the riding mower
that he pulls the coop, and to keep the battery charged he has
a solarized charger connected to the battery.
