Michelle King : Thanks so much for the newsletter it is very helpful and I love all the photos. My girls are not laying yet (they are about 5 months old) but are gorgeous and a riot. They also are eating my yard down to the nubs! I was searching for a list of plants that chickens might not be so interested in. So far my hydrangeas have survived as well as the roses. Does anyone else have any plant ideas? I am wondering about lavender.

My Reply : Chickens do like 'gardening' You may be able to find a few plants that they will ignore, but what they don't eat they will probably dig up or dustbathe into submission! Generally chickens and a garden you want to have flowers / veg in don't mix too well. On the other hand, if you want them to help you remove bugs and weed seeds from finished crops ready for you to plant for next season, then they are always very useful for that!

* Has anyone had any success with their chickens ignoring certain plants? - Do let me know if so *
