November 2008

The pullets started laying early and have not let up! Last week I got 37 eggs and they usually produce 5/6 every day. The eggs are getting larger, have a wonderful flavor, really thick shells, and an occasional double yoker is collected. They are just now 8 months old and I can't wait to see how well they will produce as adult chickens. I've enclosed some pictures for your readers.

Thanks

Judy Stearns : In April, we corresponded concerning a lame chick which had hatched at my coop. I wanted to let you know that he merged with the flock very well. The adults were quite nice to him and left him alone for many months. He was never right, deformed in many ways. His bad foot became a hook which got caught in the fence or food tub several times. Unfortunately, last week, he got caught in the fence for the day and really wore himself out. I freed him, but he got caught again that evening and it was too much for him. He died. I found him the next morning. We mourn his loss, but I will not have to worry about him this coming winter. Thanks for your website. Judy
