then aswell because there are always some 'eggs' available to add to.

Cherry Taylor (23 October) She is such an independent chicken and not at all prone to broodiness, that I never thought of her being like that, but maybe there is a first for everything after all, and she is!

If she builds up a clutch of eggs, and I move them to the nesting box, then put her in eventually, do you think she would start to lay her eggs back in there, along with the fake eggs?

They are such weird birds I cannot always follow their thinking!
Thank you for your prompt help!

My Reply : If building up a clutch is her game plan, then once she has a clutch she may go broody and stop laying altogether (as the weather gets colder broodiness is not so likely, but it is not impossible). In the meantime a few false eggs in the box may encourage her to add to those instead so you can still keep collecting the 'real' ones and hopefully she won't get enough to go broody over. Might be worth a try anyway.
I also can't follow their thinking - more grasping at straws I think

Cherry Taylor (6 November) I think you have cracked it you Wonderful Woman! I put a marble egg in the nest which drew Molly's attention slightly and low and behold she has started laying back in the nesting box after all! Not all the time but more often than not!
Thank you so very much for helping me, I am so grateful, thank you!
