February 2009

Snow in Mt. Hermon, LA

Christy Weick : My mom gave me a 2009 almanac and showed me where the information for setting hens and placing eggs in an incubator was, so I took the time and typed it out for you. I also included the rest of the facts for dates good for Kill farm meat/hunting, Harvest crops, Weaning and Transplant. My mom says many of the days that your put the eggs in the incubator fall on a certain side of the moon in which it helps to pull the baby chick out of the egg when they are ready to come out (i.e. the moon's affect on the tides high or low).

FEBRUARY
Set Hens and incubators 5 - 6, 14 - 15
Kill farm meat/hunting 1, 24 - 28
Harvest crops 16 - 23
Wean 19 - 26
Transplant 1, 24 - 28

Excerpt from 2009 Almanac (These dates are only good for the 35° Latitude and a Longitude of 75° Eastern Standard Time Zone)

Even though we put Tex and Mex in on the "wrong days" according to Ma-Maw, Patrick and I are going to wait it out and see if they come out. If for some reason they don't make it, we will have to clean the incubator up and wait until February 5th to try and see if Ma-Maw's way is better. In February, we will have Flip and Flop in the incubator unless Patrick goes for three eggs this time. I have to find a word that uses three syllable to name them then.

Keep your fingers crossed for us
Christy
